Golden District: Serving Clear Creek, Jefferson and
[NorthEast] Park Counties

The Golden District has assisted the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Colorado State Parks for thirty years in maintaining healthy forests, reducing wildfire hazard, and improving wildlife habitat on local properties such as: the Mt. Evans State Wildlife Area; Staunton State Park; and Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The district coordinates with local fire departments, county emergency services, and county sheriff’s offices to improve wildfire preparedness and response to local, regional, and national wildfires.

The Golden District supports private landowners’ efforts to manage their forestlands through forest stewardship planning, insect and disease detection and control, and technical support and inspections for over 155 forest agriculture properties. The district also assists Denver Mountain Parks and Jefferson County Open Space through forest management and prescribed fire activities on these locally-owned public lands.

The Golden District has been active in interface concerns for over twenty years, and continues to assist county planners and private developers to review and implement wildfire mitigation plans for subdivisions, to help private landowners plan their defensible space thinning around homesites, and to facilitate community wildfire planning and fuels reduction activities.

CSFS has traditionally provided landowners with technical assistance and educational materials. Current emphasis is on landscape scale management and interagency cooperation. Take a look at the links on the left side of this page to access all of what the CSFS provides.
