Lower Dolores River Basin

The Lower Dolores River Basin is bounded by Pinon Mesa to the north; Unaweep Divide and the Uncompahgre Plateau to the east; and Carpenter Ridge and Atkinson Mesa (near the confluence of the Dolores and San Miguel Rivers) to the south. The basin includes portions of Montrose and Mesa counties. Gateway is the only community within the basin. Although Montrose District works directly with some of the basin area, it is mostly covered by foresters from the Grand Junction District.
