Which Trees are Available?

A Buyers Guide is available through the CSFS Nursery ((970) 491 – 8429) which can provide useful information when selecting trees, including: growth form, crown density, size, drought resistance, cold hardiness, growth rate, life span, elevational range, soil conditions, possible insects and disease program, wildlife value, seasonal color, and other miscellaneous information.

A PDF of the Buyers Guide is available (1.2 MB) You will need Acrobat 5.0, or higher to open this file.

We have also distilled some of this information (with some additions), including: cold hardiness, drought resistance, alkali tolerance, windbreak suitability, wildlife suitability, mature height, growth form and elevational range, in an easy-to-use
Species Suitability Guide for Colorado.

For in-depth information on species you find using the two resources above, visit the
USDA Plants Database. You can search this database by using either the
scientific or common name.

District foresters are available to help you make the right choices regarding your seedling tree purchases. For more information, or to schedule a forestry consultation, contact your local Colorado State Forest Service District Office or visit Your County's Nursery Seedling Cooperator.
