Boulder District

Proudly Serving Boulder, Broomfield and Gilpin Counties

The Boulder District of the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) is one of 17 districts located throughout Colorado. We are a division of the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). Our headquarters is located on the CSU’s foothills campus in Fort Collins.

Our mission is to provide for the stewardship of forest resources and to reduce related risks to life, property and the environment for the benefit of present and future generations.

The Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) provides private landowners with technical assistance to protect natural resources in mountain, plains and urban settings. We strive to limit damage from effects of fire, insects, disease, wind, water and human activities. CSFS works to protect values the public regards as important, while improving Colorado's renewable natural resource base.

Goals of the Boulder CSFS District include achieving better public understanding of forestry's role and value in a healthy environment, and focusing on landscape-scale management and interagency cooperation. As such, the district is home to one of the state's leading interagency projects, Winiger Ridge and is involved in the Front Range Fuels Treatment Partnership.
