The Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) seedling tree program allows farmers, ranchers and rural landowners to obtain trees at a nominal cost.

Our goal is to encourage landowners to plant new forests; to establish effective windbreaks that reduce erosion; to protect homes, cropland, livestock and highways; and to enhance wildlife habitat. Trees and shrubs are grown at the CSFS nursery for conservation benefits only. Ornamental qualities such as color, degree of flowering, fruit production, etc. are not guaranteed.

Seedling sales are restricted. To qualify, you must:

• Own one or more acres of land
• Use the seedlings for conservation practices only
• Purchase seedlings in minimums of 30 to 50 (depending on species and size)
• Not use seedlings for landscaping or resell them as living plants

• Seedling Container Sizes (162 KB PDF) – Seedling trees can be ordered in various container sizes, from small trays to extra large pots. This guide illustrates and describes each size. Prices are listed in the seedling tree application order form.
