The Colorado State Forest Service involves volunteers in many of our operational efforts, including wildfire and fuels mitigation, education and public awareness, urban forestry, tree plantings and watershed protection.

A Good Volunteer Project:

  • Fits the CSFS Mission
  • Benefits the community at large or multiple cooperators
  • Includes opportunities for experiential learning

Each volunteer project provides opportunities for experiential learning and exposure to forest management and stewardship.

We plan ahead at least a month in advance and need even more time for large projects. Although we are based in Fort Collins, we will take on projects across the state.

We have access to a variety of tools, including chainsaws, a chipper and the necessary safety equipment, and volunteers who are trained to safely operate this equipment.
