Erie 5th grader wins 2025 Colorado Arbor Day poster contest

The Colorado Tree Coalition is thrilled to announce the winners of its 5th Grade Arbor Day Poster Contest and invite the public to a celebration of young artistic talent and environmental stewardship. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 25, 10:00 a.m. in the Helen Fowler Library at Denver Botanic Gardens.

This year’s theme, “The Superpowers of Trees,” inspired 5th grade students across Colorado to creatively showcase the many ways trees enrich our lives and our planet. The contest received a record number of submissions — 41 in total — from across the state.

Claire Oliveri of Erie Elementary School in Erie was awarded first place, with Addie Durbin of Three Creeks K-8 in Arvada and Hudson Baker of Renaissance Elementary Magnet School in Castle Rock receiving second and third place, respectively. Honorable mentions were also awarded to Anahia Heredia of Parkview Elementary in Lamar and Jacob Dey, a homeschool student from Castle Rock.

“Congratulations to all of our student artists!” said Amanda Westendorf, Arbor Day Poster Contest Coordinator and Arborist for The Park People. “We had a record number of submissions this year, and the judges were truly impressed by the creativity and thoughtfulness each poster showed. It’s inspiring to see the next generation so passionate about trees.”

All contest entries will be displayed at the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Helen Fowler Library from April 16 through May 15, providing a chance for the public to enjoy the incredible artwork.

Join us on April 25 for a heartwarming celebration of creativity, community, and a shared love for trees. Learn more at www.coloradotrees.org.
