March is Women’s History Month and an excellent opportunity to learn more about the women who work in the Colorado State Forest Service across the state. Their enthusiasm for forestry, Colorado and the CSFS is contagious.
International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8. The women on the CSFS GIS team play a huge role in keeping maps and data available to CSFS staff and partners across the state.
Forestry remains a male-dominated field. According to data from the 2020 US Census, women make up just 15.3% of forest and conservation workers. But the CSFS employs talented, knowledgeable and passionate women across Colorado. They work hard to protect the trees and forests across the state.
In October, the inaugural Women’s Forest Congress in Minneapolis, Minn., brought together more than 400 female and non-binary conference participants. Seven women represented the Colorado State Forest Service, and they came back renewed and reinvigorated.
