The Colorado State Forest Service tree program enables farmers, ranchers and rural landowners to buy seedling trees at a nominal cost.

Seedlings in NurseryThe program is designed to encourage landowners to plant effective wind barriers that protect buildings, cropland and feedlots, help prevent erosion, enhance wildlife habitat, promote reforestation and assist with the development of Christmas tree plantations.

To participate, landowners must have one or more acres of land and must agree not to use the trees for ornamental or landscaping purposes. These trees cannot be resold as living plants (the roots must be severed). Contact your local nursery for your ornamental needs.

Order forms are available in mid-November with tree delivery during the first part of May.

If your property is in Jackson, Moffat or Routt county and you would like to be placed on the mailing list, please email the CSFS Steamboat Field Office or contact your local conservation district.
