The Boulder Field Office works with federal, state and local agencies in Boulder and Gilpin counties by providing technical assistance and funding to help mitigate the hazards of wildfire to homes, communities, watershed providers and Golden Gate and Eldorado State Parks.

The Boulder Field Office provides direct technical assistance to multiple communities and homeowners in the Four Mile and Lefthand Fire Protection Districts to implement effective linked defensible space on more than 250 properties, including strategic fuel breaks. The field office supports the Boulder County Wildfire Partners Program, which also provides defensible space assistance.

The Boulder Field Office has provided technical assistance in developing 13 Fire Protection District Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs), as well as two countywide CWPPS for Boulder and Gilpin counties.

The Boulder Field Office currently supports five FireWise communities, including the town of Nederland, Lake of the Pines, North Foothills Ranch, Sunshine and Old Stage communities.
