FORT COLLINS, Colo. – With Colorado’s snowpack at only 65 percent of average and Red Flag Warnings again in effect throughout much of the state today, the Colorado State Forest Service reminds landowners that there’s no better time than now to prepare homes and communities for wildfire.
PUEBLO, Colo. – On April 2, foresters from around the state took an inventory of the more than 900 trees in Pueblo’s Mineral Palace Park, all at no cost to the city. The inventory was conducted by the Colorado State Forest Service as a community service project, and accomplished by almost 50 foresters in town for the agency’s annual meeting and awards ceremony.
BROOMFIELD, Colo. – As the weather warms and Colorado’s trees begin to leaf out, insects living within these trees also will begin to stir. And with the invasive, tree-killing emerald ash borer (EAB) set to emerge later this spring, now is the time for those living in or near Boulder County to determine what, if anything, they want to do about any ash trees on their property.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – In January, a national Wildfire Mitigation Awards Committee announced that 6 out of the 21 awards for 2015 were received by Colorado organizations and individuals for outstanding efforts in wildfire preparedness and safety.
BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Late winter, from mid-February until early March, is the best time to prune most trees. Trees are still dormant at this time of year and, unlike in early winter, wound closure will be rapid if pruning occurs just prior to the time new growth emerges.
GOLDEN, Colo. – Today, the U.S. Forest Service and Colorado State Forest Service released the results of the annual aerial forest health survey in Colorado.
GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado State Forest Service is accepting applications until Feb. 14 from all Project Learning Tree-trained educators to receive free seedling trees from its Fort Collins nursery.
